Plagiarism Policy and Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

DIMASINTEGRA is committed to preserving the highest standards of academic integrity, originality, and ethical authorship. The journal regards plagiarism and unethical use of artificial intelligence as serious violations of scholarly conduct. All manuscripts submitted to DIMASINTEGRA are therefore subject to strict screening, verification, and ethical evaluation prior to acceptance for publication.

1. Definition and Scope of Plagiarism

Plagiarism is defined as the use of another person’s ideas, words, data, or creative work without proper acknowledgment. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Direct plagiarism, involving verbatim copying without citation

  • Mosaic or patchwork plagiarism, where phrases or structures are copied with minimal alteration

  • Paraphrasing plagiarism, where ideas are reworded without proper attribution

  • Self-plagiarism, involving the reuse of substantial parts of one’s own previously published work without disclosure

  • Data plagiarism, including the unauthorized reuse or misrepresentation of datasets, tables, or figures

All such practices are strictly prohibited.

2. Similarity Threshold and Screening Procedure

Every submitted manuscript is screened using reputable similarity detection software prior to peer review. DIMASINTEGRA enforces a maximum overall similarity index of 20%, excluding references, bibliographies, direct quotations, and standard methodological descriptions.

In addition to the overall similarity score, the editorial team conducts a source-by-source analysis. A manuscript may still be subject to rejection if:

  • A high percentage of similarity originates from a single source

  • Overlap appears in conceptual, analytical, or discussion sections

  • Similarity suggests inappropriate paraphrasing or unattributed borrowing

Manuscripts exceeding the permitted threshold will be returned to the authors for revision or rejected, depending on the severity and intent of the overlap.

3. Consequences of Plagiarism

If plagiarism is identified at any stage of the publication process:

  • Before review: the manuscript will be rejected outright

  • During review: the review process will be suspended pending investigation

  • After publication: the article may be retracted, and a retraction notice will be issued

In serious cases, the journal reserves the right to notify the authors’ affiliated institutions and to impose submission bans for a defined period.

4. Policy on the Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

DIMASINTEGRA recognizes the growing role of AI technologies in academic workflows and permits their limited and transparent use under clearly defined conditions. AI tools may be used only for technical or linguistic assistance, such as grammar checking, language polishing, or improving readability.

AI tools must not be used to:

  • Generate research ideas, objectives, or theoretical frameworks

  • Design methodologies or instruments

  • Analyze or interpret data

  • Produce discussion, conclusions, or policy recommendations

  • Generate references, citations, or bibliographic entries

  • Fabricate data, images, tables, or empirical findings

The intellectual content of the manuscript must remain the sole responsibility of the human authors.

5. Disclosure and Author Responsibility

Authors are required to explicitly disclose any use of AI tools in their manuscript, typically in the acknowledgments or a dedicated “AI Use Statement.” The disclosure must specify:

  • The name of the AI tool used

  • The purpose of its use (e.g., language editing)

  • Confirmation that AI did not contribute to scholarly content

Failure to disclose AI use, or evidence of AI-generated substantive content, will be treated as ethical misconduct.

6. Editorial Assessment of AI Use

The editorial team may employ both manual assessment and technological tools to detect inappropriate AI use, including inconsistencies in writing style, fabricated references, or unverifiable claims. When suspected misuse is identified, the manuscript will be investigated, and authors may be required to provide clarification or original drafts.

7. Ethical Commitment

By submitting a manuscript to DIMASINTEGRA, authors affirm that their work is original, ethically produced, and compliant with this plagiarism and AI-use policy. The journal’s strict enforcement of these guidelines reflects its commitment to scholarly credibility, ethical community engagement, and responsible innovation in higher education–based Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat.
